SUMMARY:Lute Olson Retirement Celebration
DESCRIPTION:The University of Arizona athletics department will host a public recognition ceremony celebrating the career of men's basketball coach Lute Olson.His continued support of the community through his involvement in many non-profits\, the prestige he has brought to the UA and Tucson community\, and his impact on hundreds of basketball letterwinners are just a few of the many reasons to attend.  The month of August was selected for the celebration to allow his former players the opportunity to participate and share in the celebration of Olson's accomplishments.Help us thank Olson and celebrate his hall of fame career.  Among other things\, the day's event will include tributes from former players\, appearances by many current NBA players and a highlight video.  The event is free and open to the public\, with free parking available in the Cherry Garage and surrounding surface lots.Olson retired on Oct. 23\, 2008 and finished his career at Arizona with a 589-187 record\, 11 Pac-10 titles\, 23 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances\, four Final Fours and a national championship in 1997.

SUMMARY:Diverse Students Showcase Summer Research at Poster Session
DESCRIPTION:Eighty graduate school-bound juniors and seniors from schools across the United States\, Puerto Rico and Mexico will exhibit their summer research sponsored by the National Institutes of Health\, U.S. Department of Education\, National Science Foundation and the University of Arizona. These outstanding students have participated in an array of 10-week intensive summer research programs under the supervision of a UA faculty mentor. They have conducted research in the sciences\, social sciences\, education and humanities. All have demonstrated high academic achievement\, strong research experience and a desire to pursue graduate education. Please join us in celebrating the achievements of these promising young scholars from diverse backgrounds!
