The show also recounts the historical religious and cultural rituals practiced during the time of the winter solstice - not only Christian and Jewish\, but also Celtic\, Pagan\, Nordic\, Roman\, Egyptian and Hopi. Plus\, it explores the possible explanations for a \"Star over Bethlehem\" from the history of 2\,000 years ago.

SUMMARY:Comprehensive Campus Plan Update Public Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The University of Arizona is embarking upon an update of its successful 2003 Comprehensive Campus Plan\, which is used to guide the physical development of the UA campus.  Campus planners are seeking input from faculty\, staff\, students and members of the Tucson community on a wide range of issues related to the campus plan. All University constituencies\, neighborhoods and the Tucson community are encouraged to participate.  The afternoon workshop\, scheduled for 1\:30 p.m. to 3\:30 p.m.\, will be held for UA faculty\, staff and students. The evening workshop\, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.\, will be held for campus-area neighborhoods and the greater Tucson community.  Additional workshops are planned for April\, along with open houses in May. The Department of Campus and Facilities Planning will manage the project\, while the process will be coordinated by the consulting firm of Ayers/Saint/Gross\, Architects + Planners.

SUMMARY:Volunteers Needed for Giant Reed (Arundo) Removal in Sabino Canyon
DESCRIPTION:  Come out and enjoy beautiful Sabino Canyon and help out a great cause!    Volunteers are needed to help tag and remove Arundo (an invasive giant reed that looks similar to bamboo) in Sabino Canyon.   Please arrive at 7\:50 a.m. and sign in at the Sabino Canyon  Visitor Center ramadas. The event\, sponsored by The University of Arizona Master Watershed Steward Program\, will last from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on each of the days listed below and you should wear sturdy shoes or boots\, a long-sleeved shirt\, long pants\, a hat and sunglasses or safety glasses. Please also bring a backpack\, sunblock and a water bottle. Tools and gloves will be provided for you.    Volunteers are needed for the following days\: Jan. 17\, Feb. 1 and Feb. 21.

SUMMARY:Copper Miners' Stories\: The People of San Manuel
DESCRIPTION:       The public is invited to attend a free\, multi-media presentation of oral history stories hosted by The Miners' Story Project at The University of Arizona Mineral Museum and Flandrau\: The UA Science Center.  Copper Miners' Stories\: The People of San Manuel\, a collection of oral history stories and images from San Manuel miners and their families\, is made possible thanks to a grant from the Arizona Humanities Council. The presentations will run one hour\, and the remaining time will be an open house.  As the culmination of a yearlong effort\, Project Coordinator Shipherd Reed will present selected stories about life in the mine and the town using audio recordings\, photographs and anecdotes.
