DESCRIPTION:The Union Gallery will be showcasing \"This War Between Us\,\" a collection of work by Elizabeth Mellott. A photographer and professor based in Plano\, Texas\, Mellott creates intimate\, sculptural environments in which complex emotions experienced in military relationships are revealed. The artist writes\: \"'This War Between Us' turns to an expansive consideration of the ordeal of military families and their stories of pain\, stress\, and faithful dedication.  The consequences of this war are deeply present to me every day. The exhibit will be open to the public Jan. 17 through Feb. 15 at the Union Gallery\, located on the third floor of the Student Union Memorial Center. SUMMARY:Mineral Museum Hosts Hubert C. de Monmonier Collection
DESCRIPTION:The magnificence of the Hubert C. de Monmonier Collection is the focus of a new UA Mineral Museum special featured opening at Flandrau\: The UA Science Center on Feb. 9\, coinciding with the 54th annual Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. The exhibit runs through May 31 and is the first time that a portion of the collection has been seen in public.The collection comprises 871 mineral specimens representing 64 species from some of the most famous and classic locations around the world. The collection includes 350 quartz specimens\, 146 tourmaline\, 44 silver\, 38 beryl and more than 70 gold specimens. Also in the collection are more than 300 rare books on mineral-related topics by many classical mineralogists.

DESCRIPTION:UAMA concludes the presentation of \"Goya's Mastery in Prints\,\" a four-part series of revolutionary print suites by Francisco de Goya on loan from the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University in Dallas\, Texas. The fourth and final exhibition in the series\, \"Los Caprichos\" (The Caprices)\, showcases the artist's most influential suite - 80 aquatint etchings that satirize the folly of individual human behavior and critique elements of 18th century Spanish society with striking originality in design and in concept.Corresponding to Goya's \"Los Caprichos\,\" the museum presents Maria Brito's \"Las Goyescas\" and Enrique Chagoya's \"The Return to Goyas Caprichos.\" This fourth and final installation in the UAMA series \"Correspondence\: In Relation to Goya\" showcases the work of two living artists in dialogue with Francisco Goyas most famous print suite\, \"Los Caprichos\" (1799).
