DESCRIPTION:A retrospective exhibit - Fifty Years of Publishing Excellence\: The University of Arizona Press\, 1959-2009 - is hosted by The University of Arizona Libraries in the Main Library's Special Collections Monday through Friday. The exhibit showcases the books and awards that have contributed the UA Press's outstanding international reputation.With nearly 1\,000 books in print\, the UA Press has many titles to amaze even the casual book lover. For the archaeology enthusiast there's \"The Archaeology of Ancient Arizona\;\" for the environmental history buff\, \"Fuel for Growth\;\" for the borderlands reader\, \"Writing on the Edge\;\" and for the memoir devotee\, \"Going Back to Bisbee\,\" which has sold more than 30\,000 copies since its publication in 1992. With titles exemplifying the prime focuses of the UA Press - anthropology\, Latina/Latino and Native American studies\, Western history\, and space sciences - this exhibit has something for everyone. SUMMARY:The History of Red/Brown Journalism Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The newest exhibit in the Main Library's Research West area\, \"The History of Red/Brown Journalism and Communications\,\" showcases ancient to contemporary media with special emphasis on the work of women writers\, editors and publishers from the late 1800s\, early 1900s and the 1960s and 1970s. The exhibit\, created by the students in Roberto Rodriguez's History of Red/Brown Journalism and Communications class\, coincides with the Voices for Justice Project\, which is celebrating 200 years of Latino/Latina journalism. The exhibit is also part of a larger class project involving a commemorative newspaper\, a student symposium and a Cinco de Mayo program at the Student Union Memorial Center.

DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to visit Flandrau Science Center and say goodbye to Hector Vector Star Projector before the center closes on June 1.Hector Vector Star Projector\, the nickname kids fondly gave the optical projector that rises from the floor at the beginning of each planetarium show to depict the realistic night image of our sky and solar system\, has been a staple for generations of Tucsonans. Visitors encounter hands-on exhibits\, viewings through a 16-inch telescope\, informative presentations and a multimedia journey through the solar system in the planetarium theater. After closing to the public on June 1\, Flandrau will maintain its commitment to community education through various astronomy outreach programs for both school and general public audiences.  Hours are\: Thursday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.\, Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.\, Saturday 12-9 p.m.\, Sunday 12-5 p.m.

SUMMARY:Engineering Design Day
DESCRIPTION:Wireless sensors alerting firefighters to potential harm and an environmentally-sound boat engine for use in national parks are among the student engineering projects to be showcased at this event.  More than 50 projects designed by University of Arizona engineering students will be shown at Engineering Design Day\, the College of Engineering's premier showcase of student design.  Design Day marks the end of a yearlong experience that involved students working on real problems with real clients. The program gives engineering students a chance to apply four years of engineering education to a project that has real benefit.
