Porter on \"Starting Fresh Without Staring Over\: Taking Charge of Your Career.\"  Does your career path look like it needs to take a detour? Are you wondering if you can reinvent your career without quitting your job? What does \"job advancement\" look like in today's economic climate?  A turbulent economy and budget uncertainties have caused many people at the UA to rethink their careers - sometimes without choice. Some employees sense that they aren't going to continue on their current path but don't know exactly how the new path looks. Others feel that they are slated in a role without growth opportunities or one that no longer inspires them. Finally\, some are seeking opportunities to reposition themselves through all the change and transformation. In this engaging keynote address\, you will hear key strategies for taking a thoughtful\, realistic and proactive approach to figuring out you next career steps.    Porter has worked as a human resources professional at the UA for more than 19 years. She currently serves as director of HR consulting and talent management\, with oversight for HR consulting - including training and development\, employee and career advising\, and recruitment and employment.Beta is a Universitywide networking group of office professionals that provides opportunities for members to achieve and enhance their professional and personal lives.  Membership is open to any person holding a position at the UA in the administrative support services job family. DESCRIPTION:Have you recently experienced a job transition or are you considering a career change within or outside the University? Have you asked yourself any of the following questions\:What is the best way to prepare for organizational changes? Does my resume highlight my skills and accomplishments? How do I market myself in an interview? What are the best strategies for networking with others? Human Resources has information that can help.At 5\:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month\, HR Employee and Career Advising will hold a Job Search Roundtable. The discussion is open to UA employees and recent retirees. Pre-registration is required. We'll have food!We'll begin each roundtable meeting with a presentation about current career change issues and news. This month\, the Job Search Roundtable will be hosted by a UA employee whose job it is to help search committees and hiring managers identify\, seek\, attract and hire great employees.  He'll share candid advice on how to navigate the job seeking process at the University\, and stories from sitting on the other side of the interview table.
