SUMMARY:Apply for \"Teach English as a Foreign Language\" Program
DESCRIPTION:Teach English ... see the world. Are you going to graduate soon? Or are you thinking of what you're going to do after you retire? Well\, here's an option to consider\: Teach English abroad! The University of Arizona's Center for English as a Second Language is an established leader in English language teacher training with decades of experience in the United States and abroad. In the coming months\, CESL will once again be administering its unique online teacher training course for certification to \"Teach English as a Foreign Language\,\" TEFL. The TEFL certificate program is the entry level\, international benchmark for qualified English language teacher training. Once again this academic year\, CESL is offering an eight-week\, 50-hour Online Basic TEFL program\, with an optional 20-hour observational and teaching practicum for local participants. The 50-hour course will run from Oct. 16 to Dec. 9 and will be taught entirely online via the UA's Desire to Learn\, or D2L\, course delivery system. The 50-hour Online Basic TEFL program emphasizes essential foundations in language teaching theory\, methodology\, curriculum development and assessment techniques. It is intended to provide comprehensive preparation for new and novice teachers who intend to teach English for short terms abroad or in a volunteer capacity in the United States. The course design is extremely user friendly\, largely self paced and can be accessed 24 hours a day\, seven days a week. Regular access to a computer and a reliable Internet connection are the only technical prerequisites to participation. The deadline for applications is Oct. 15. UA students or faculty with a UA CatCard get a 5 percent affiliate discount off tuition. If you sign up before Sept. 1\, you get a 10 percent tuition discount.
