LOCATION:Flandrau\: The UA Science Center
SUMMARY:Flandrau's Observatory Remains Open to the Public
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to a number of dedicated astronomy volunteers\, Flandrau Science Center's 16-inch telescope\, the largest public viewing telescope in Southern Arizona\, remains open for public viewing. Due to the volunteers\, the observatory will continue to operate despite the announcement earlier in the year that Flandrau Science Center will be closed to the public due to state budget cuts.In the observatory\, you can take your own tour of the heavens with the observatory's 16-inch telescope\, available for free viewing Wednesday through Saturday from 7-10 p.m. all year long. No reservations are needed. It is the only such telescope open on a regular weekly schedule\, free to the public\, in the state of Arizona. Flandrau's Cassegrain reflector is the same optical design as professional telescopes on Arizona mountaintops. An expert astronomer or telescope operator is available (weather permitting) to point you toward the best of each month's sky show and visitors can request different objects to view. In addition to eyepiece views through its main 16-inch telescope\, the observatory uses a real-time Hyperstar imaging system on an auxiliary telescope\, which is able to reveal details in bright nebulae star clusters and comets. Before you visit\, check out our Skywatchers' Guide and Observatory News for regular updates on what's new and exciting to see in the night skies over Tucson. You can also join the conversation and get observation tips on Twitter - username\: @UAskywatch.

SUMMARY:Sunshine on Cast Shadow\: David Choong Lee
DESCRIPTION:The University of Arizona's Joseph Gross Gallery presents David Choong Lee's \"Sunshine on Cast Shadow.\"There will be a reception on June 26 from 5-7 p.m.Based out of San Francisco's street art movement\, Korean born artist Lee reflects on social conditions within youth culture\, urban environments and generation \"next\,\" tapping into both American and Korean visual aesthetics.  Sociopolitical and economic issues surrounding homelessness and youth populations are at the heart of Lee's paintings\, which play with the subcultures' politics of power\, judgment and perception. Lee's on-location assemblages embody concepts that float between his choice of subject matter\, materiality and technique. The graffiti-like amalgamations fold in traditional figurative portraiture and promote public discourse\, challenging the notion of what is considered fine art. Rembrandt\, Van Gogh\, Sukdo and the underground DJ Movement have largely influenced his art.Lee has been widely exhibited in a variety of spaces including Bucheon Gallery and White Walls Gallery in San Francisco\, Joshua Liner Gallery in New York City and Yves LaRoche in Montreal\, Quebec\, Canada. The Joseph Gross is open Monday through Friday\, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and is free to the public. The Joseph Gross and Lionel Rombach Galleries are located on the UA campus between the Museum of Art  and the Center for Creative Photography. SUMMARY:\"Arctic Spirit\: Inuit Art from the Albrecht Collection\"
DESCRIPTION: The University of Arizona Libraries Special Collections welcomes \"Arctic Spirit\: Inuit Art from the Albrecht Collection\,\" a traveling exhibit of the Canadian Inuit's rich artistic history. Chosen from a Heard Museum collection donated by UA alumnus Daniel Albrecht\, the sculptures\, textiles and graphics offer a rare opportunity to view Inuit artwork. The Inuits\, or Eskimos\, are a society of natives who live mainly in Siberia\, Alaska\, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. Although many consider these various groups to be homogenous\, Arctic Spirit showcases the artistic styles that are distinctly of the Canadian Inuit. The exhibit has been brought to Special Collections through the generosity of Albrecht\, and is curated by Ingo Hessel who has researched Inuit art extensively for more than 20 years. See the UA Libraries' summer hours schedule to plan your visit.

SUMMARY:Professional Success Institute - Everyday Ethics
DESCRIPTION:Ethics is about more than following the rules. Each day we are called upon to make hard decisions without the benefit of established guidelines. So what do we do? Some of us refer to past experiences\, some of us turn to religious teachings\, and still others consider cultural expectations. This course will explore the meaning of ethics and examine how we make ethical decisions. This course is a combination of Web-based instruction and classroom application.

SUMMARY:Grants for Lunch-Light
DESCRIPTION:Still hungry for more Grants for Lunch before the GIFT Center's regular events resume in the fall? Please join us for \"Making Your Case\: How to Sell Your Vision to Donors\,\" a live Forum for Fundraising webinar\, presented by Tom Ahern. With this program on case statements\, we continue Grants for Lunch-Light\, a low-key brown bag event offering valuable private grant seeking and fundraising information. (Sorry\, though\, no snacks!) GIFT Center staff will be available for topic-related discussion following the class. Please R.S.V.P. by June 25 to GIFTCenter@al.arizona.edu. Every charity needs to make a great case whether you are hunting millions for a new emergency room\, building your endowment to new heights or simply writing an annual appeal. Most organizations write a case statement every decade or so. Ahern writes six or more a year\, for clients that include universities\, health care organizations\, symphonies\, advocacy groups\, major consulting firms and grassroots organizations. In the past three years he has written cases for more than $300 million in combined campaigns. This workshop teaches you everything he knows about making an effective case. You'll learn how to research your case and distill a mountain of facts down to its essence\, how to answer the questions prospects care about most\, and how to deliver your message with white-hot intensity. In this seminar\, you'll also learn storytelling formulas that work\, why testimonial is so important\, how emotional triggers get you to your goal quickly and much more.
