    A win against Notre Dame over the weekend has advanced the Wildcats softball team to the Super Regionals. No. 13 Arizona will play the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners on May 25-26. The May 25 game will be televised by ESPNU, and the May 26 action will be on ESPN.

  • Marketing Class Creates Campaign for Honda

    UA marketing students created a campaign for Honda as part of a nationwide competition. They recently presented their work to Honda and advertising officials and now are awaiting word on their place in the competition.

  • Professor Links Gene Mutations With Heart Disease Precursors

    It may be easier in the future to test and provide early treatment for the heart disease known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, according to new research published by the UA's Jil Tardiff. HCM affects one in 500 people and can lead to sudden cardiac arrest and sometimes early death.

  • UA Men's Basketball Signs Three More Recruits

    Matt Korcheck, Mark Lyons and T.J. McConnell have signed paperwork to attend the UA and play basketball. They are the fifth, sixth and seventh student-athletes to sign with coach Sean Miller and the Wildcats in 2011-12. ESPN.com and rivals.com have the UA's recruiting class ranked No. 3 nationally.

  • Largest Meteorite Hunt in History Yields Treasure for UA

    Thanks to the generosity of three professional meteorite hunters, the UA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory will own three samples of a rare kind of meteorite. The donated material is especially important in light of the upcoming OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission, which is led by the UA.

    UANews | Eight of the top 15 high schools in Arizona ranked by U.S. News & World Report offer ENGR 102 HS, the engineering introduction course from the UA College of Engineering. For fall 2012, 25 Arizona high schools are scheduled to offer the course in cities ranging from Yuma to Phoenix.

    UANews | Michelle Coe, Irene Liang and Carol Seanez, all UA undergraduates, have been named Udall Scholars. With three students named, the UA tied with the University of Georgia for having the most scholars out of 70 institutions.
  • Seven Wildcats Earn Preseason Football Nods
    UANews | Seven members of the UA football team earned spots on Phil Steele's 2012 Preseason All-Pac-12 Teams. Three key players on the UA offense were recognized, along with four members of the defense. The Wildcats officially will open the 2012 season on Sept. 1 against Toledo in Arizona Stadium.

    UANews | Flandrau Science Center will hold its "A 'Crescent Sun' Over Tucson" viewing party for the annular solar eclipse on May 20. UA astronomy experts will be on hand to answer questions. A viewing event also will take place at the Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter, which will stream images live over the Web.
