Eller Publication Garners National Award

The Association for University Economic and Business Research recentlyhonored the Economic and Business Research Center at the UA Eller College of Management with the 2005 Award of Excellence in Publications for itsquarterly newsletter Arizona's Economy.

In line with The University of Arizona's mission to educate and serve, agoal of EBR is to keep the Arizona business community up-to-date on currenteconomic and demographic trends in the metro areas. Maile Nadelhoffer,senior EBR researcher, said that the award affirms EBR's position inthe "forefront of setting a standard for applied economic and businessresearch, connecting the College with the state and local businesscommunity." The quarterly publication implements the practicalapplication of research conducted by EBR.

The selection of Arizona's Economy was based on several criteria, includinglayout and design, writing and composition, content and the overallpublication. Judges commented on the "excellent presentation of researchstatistics" and the valuable addition of the Business LeadersConfidence Index insert from Compass Bank.

AUBER membership includes more than 100 applied university-based researchcenters from across the nation. Arizona's Economy newsletter was first recognizedby AUBER with the 1993 Award of Excellence. In 2003, EBR earned the AUBERAward in the Statistical Abstracts and Other Data Publications category forits 700+ page Arizona Statistical Abstract 2003. The organization has alsorecognized excellence in the Center's website and its annual EconomicOutlook publication.
