Eller's 2006 Anheuser-Busch Entrepreneur-in-Residence To Speak at UA

Carl J. Schramm, recipient of the 2006 Anheuser-Busch Entrepreneur-in-Residence by The Karl Eller Center, will deliver remarks entitled "Stimulating Entrepreneurial Growth and Opportunity in U.S. Universities," Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 4-5 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd. The presentation is free and open to the public.

President and CEO of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Schramm has worked to improve understanding of how entrepreneurs change the world, how to encourage entrepreneurial activity at U.S. universities, and how to disentangle the complex system by which the discoveries of university research are brought to market for practical use. A former professor at Johns Hopkins, Schramm founded the university's Center for Hospital Finance and Management before going on to found a number of companies in healthcare and information technology sectors. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and a law degree from Georgetown University.

The Kauffman Foundation "affects entrepreneurship education in a way that is unique and powerful," said Sherry Hoskinson, director of the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program, "and the Anheuser-Busch Entrepreneur-in-Residence program provides students an exciting opportunity to work with nationally prominent entrepreneurs along with valuable exposure to the entrepreneurial philosophy."

Dr. Schramm's presentation is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Catalina Room, adjacent to the Grand Ballroom. An R.S.V.P. is requested for the reception. Please respond to entre.rsvp@eller.arizona.edu
