International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education. This weeklong observance is part of a continuing promotion of programs that prepare Americans for participation in the global economy and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.
This year's theme, "International Education: Fostering Global Responsibility and Leadership" emphasizes the role of universities in providing a venue for dialogue across many cultures. This dialogue provides opportunities for students to develop critical thinking and understanding on a global level.
