
The University Community Chorus and Orchestra will present "An Afternoon in Austria," a concert featuring the works of Schubert, Bruckner, Johann Strauss and Jacob Handl. Conductor Elizabeth Schauer will lead the ensemble in Schubert's partsongs, selections from "Die Fledermaus" (in English), and works for chorus and brass by Anton Bruckner and Jacob Handl.
Audiences familiar with Johann Strauss's humorous opera "Die Fledermaus" will enjoy well-known numbers from this work featuring a quartet of soloists with the chorus. Frequent and popular performers throughout Arizona, soloists Christi Amonson, soprano; Robyn Rocklein, mezzo-soprano; Dennis Tamblyn, tenor; and Chris Thomas, baritone are highlighted in these selections. Assistant conductor Lucik Aprahamian will be at the podium for Schubert's masterwork "Miriam's Song of Triumph" for chorus and piano.
