Graduate Students Showcasing Art Work

Graduate Showcase

Terre Miller Rhoads Wendell's work titled, "Dancers in the City," is on display as part of the Union Gallery's exhibition feature UA student art work.

The Union Gallery is currently featuring the work of UA School of Art graduate students.

The Union Gallery is hosting an exhibition of works created by University of Arizona graduate students.

Students in the UA School of Art created work in a variety of media, including photography, sculpture, painting and drawing for exhibition.

"The exhibition demonstrates both the diverse angles from which these artists approach their work as well as the array of media taught in the School of Art," said Holly Brown, the Union Gallery curator.

Brown said it is the gallery's second time hosting such a showcase, which is open to anyone in the UA's fine arts program, not simply studio students.

"This exhibition provides an opportunity to view the work of talented artists who will graduate from The University of Arizona," Brown said.

This year, Brown asked students to explore the idea of identity, particularly in Tucson.

"Lots of students chose to represent places and people here who are important to them," Brown said.

The exhibition is now open and will run through Dec. 18 at the Union Gallery, which is located on the third floor of the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd.

The gallery's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. But the gallery will have limited hours Dec. 15 through 19 due to the end of the semester. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to visit.
