SUMMARY:Francophone Poetry Reading
DESCRIPTION:Irène Assiba d'Almeida\, head of the UA department of French and Italian\, reads from her anthology just published by the University of Virginia Press\, \"A Rain of Words\: A Bilingual Anthology of Women's Poetry in Francophone Africa.\"With works by 47 poets from a dozen countries\, the anthology is the first comprehensive survey of poetry by African women writing in French. Some are established writers\; others are only beginning to publish their work. Almost none have been published outside of Africa or Europe or been previously translated into English.
