This interactive, multimedia national traveling exhibition honors American women in medicine, past and present. It includes Arizona's 11 Local Legends, University of Arizona College of Medicine faculty and graduates and other women physicians with ties to the UA College of Medicine. Several are American Indian and Hispanic women.
Unique to the Tucson exhibit is a collection of women physician memorabilia belonging to Dr. Marlys Witte, professor in the department of surgery.
The exhibition Web site, accessible via one of two exhibit kiosks, offers educational and professional resources for those considering medicine as a career and lesson plans for classroom activities for grades K-12.
The exhibit is made possible by the National Library of Medicine, American Library Association, National Institutes of Health Office of Research on Women's Health and the American Medical Women's Association.
