50 Years of the UA Press

UA Press

A retrospective exhibit – Fifty Years of Publishing Excellence: The University of Arizona Press, 1959-2009 – is hosted by The University of Arizona Libraries in the Main Library's Special Collections Monday through Friday. The exhibit showcases the books and awards that have contributed the UA Press’s outstanding international reputation.

With nearly 1,000 books in print, the UA Press has many titles to amaze even the casual book lover. For the archaeology enthusiast there’s "The Archaeology of Ancient Arizona;" for the environmental history buff, "Fuel for Growth;" for the borderlands reader, "Writing on the Edge;" and for the memoir devotee, "Going Back to Bisbee," which has sold more than 30,000 copies since its publication in 1992. With titles exemplifying the prime focuses of the UA Press – anthropology, Latina/Latino and Native American studies, Western history, and space sciences – this exhibit has something for everyone. Come browse five decades of award-winning titles and see for yourself why the UA Press serves a vital role in our desert community and beyond!
