The UA Water Sustainability Program and Cooperative Extension will host lectures on water recycling and planning.
The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension and the UA Water Sustainability Program offers a Brown Bag Water Speaker Series at the UA Cooperative Extension in Maricopa County.
The series features prominent water experts in 90-minute talks and is geared for the general public, policy makers and water experts, offering up-to-date information about Arizona water issues and special water topics of current interest.
All lectures are free and open to the public and start at noon at the UA Cooperative Extension, Maricopa County, Palo Verde Room at 4341 E. Broadway, in Phoenix. Bring your lunch. There will be time for questions and answers.
RSVP to Nancy Crocker, 602-827-8200, ext. 335 or NCrocker@cals.arizona.edu.
On Tuesday, March 24, Channah Rock, a water quality extension specialist in the UA soil, water and environmental science department and UA Cooperative Extension, Maricopa Agricultural Center, will lecture on "Water Recycling and Reuse."
Rock's presentation will discuss a recent state-wide survey that looks at the use of reclaimed water to meet water needs in Arizona as well as public perception of this use.
On Wednesday, April 29, Sharon Megdal, director of the UA Water Sustainability Program and Water Resources Research Center, will give a presentation on "Water Planning in Arizona."
The Water Sustainability Program, known as WSP, provides science-based technical, economic, legal, and policy expertise necessary for water development, use, and conservation in a rapidly growing, increasingly urban state.
WSP aims to strengthen research, outreach and education efforts in the water resource area at the UA to help ensure a sustainable, high-quality water supply for economic development and enhanced quality of life for all of Arizona.
The program is a University-wide collaboration of scientists and educators that is coordinated by five UA water centers. Stronger relationships across disciplines result in interdisciplinary research and innovative solutions to real-world problems in the state.
