Award Will Fund 'Xtreme Xploration' at Desert View

Students in Free Enterprise at the UA will use a $25,000 gift from the Walmart Foundation to train hgh school students in leadership skills.
The Walmart Foundation donated $25,000 to Students in Free Enterprise at The University of Arizona. SIFE students will use it to fund their Xtreme Xploration Leadership Program at Desert View High School in Tucson.
Xtreme Xploration actively engages students at to become knowledgeable, civic-minded leaders with the expertise and skills needed for the 21st century global workplace. The program contains three core skill areas: information and communication; thinking and problem solving; and interpersonal and self-direction.
SIFE has been part of the UA for more than 10 years. In 2008, UA SIFE students won the National Championship for SIFE programs.
During the 2007-2008 school year, more than 75 UA students dedicated more than 10,000 volunteer hours to 26 community projects. The projects created economic opportunity for those involved through education and business development.
