Community Conversations - Green Valley

Ian Record will present new accounts of the Western Apaches, including new descriptions of Aravaipa and an event known as the “Camp Grant Massacre.”

Record’s latest studies have been called “powerful and moving,” representing over 10 years collaborative work between Record and the San Carlos Apache Elders Cultural Advisory Council, a tribal organization working to sustain and strengthen traditional Apache culture and knowledge for the benefit of future generations of Apaches.

Record is also scheduled to read from his book, "Big Sycamore Stands Alone: The Western Apaches, Aravaipa, and the Struggle for Place." The event will be moderated by Susie Hernandez, Arizona Public Media T.V. producer. Hernandez will also present a selected preview of the new "American Experience: We Shall Remain" documentary premiering in April.
