The Arizona Symphony Orchestra in Concert

The Arizona Symphony Orchestra presents its spring concert under the baton of music director
Thomas Cockrell. The program features works of three Austrian composers: Anton Webern's
"Five Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 10," Franz Schreker's Chamber Symphony and
Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 9, "Great."

The Arizona Symphony, The University of Arizona's pre-professional orchestral
ensemble, performs challenging concert programs and collaborates frequently
with the The University of Arizona Opera Theatre and School of Dance productions. Conductor Thomas
Cockrell has served as the Nelson Riddle Endowed Chair in Music, director of
orchestral activities and music director of the UA Opera Theatre since 2000. In
2007 he was named the director of the James E. Rogers Institute for Orchestral
and Opera Conducting, a bold new comprehensive leadership program for advanced
conductors.
