Nation's top climate forecasters to convene at UA
UA to celebrate vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The entire University and greater Tucson community is invited to join this year's UA MLK Millennium Celebration Committee in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s vision with a series of programs.
This series will include a variety of speakers who will address the political, economic, cultural and global trajectory of African-Americans in the 21st century. Some of the activities include:
Friday, Jan. 14, 11:30 - 2 p.m.
Comments by Dr. Russell Adams, chair of African American Studies at Howard University and co-editor of CommonQuest: The Magazine of Black/Jewish Relations
and a performance by Quraysh Ali Lansana, poet-author of "Southside Rains," and executive director of Kuntu Drama Inc. at the Hillel Foundation, 1245 E. Second St.
Monday, Jan. 17, 8 a.m.
Annual MLK March from the UA Mall to Reid Park. Remarks by UA President Peter Likins. Begins at the UA Mall.
Monday, Jan. 31, Noon - 1 p.m.
"Sounding of the Drum Ceremony," African American Student Affairs, on the UA Mall.
Wednesday, Feb. 16, 4 p.m.
Presentation by Leah Landrum, Phoenix legislator. At the UA MLK Center, 1322 E. First St.
Friday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m.
Film screening of "Sugar Cane Alley," hosted by the International Film Festival. At UA Social Sciences, Room 100.
