UA Pharmacy Associate Dean Joins National Academies of Practice
John Murphy will advise policy makers on health care issues.
John Murphy, PharmD and associate dean for academic and professional affairs at The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, has been elected to the National Academies of Practice as a distinguished practitioner of pharmacy.
The NAP is a nonprofit professional organization composed of distinguished representatives elected from 10 different health professions. Founded in 1981, the NAP advises public policy makers on health care issues. Each of the 10 academies is limited to 150 active distinguished practitioners or scholars.
Murphy currently is president of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and has served as president and member of the board of directors of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
In 2003, Murphy received the Award for Sustained Contributions to the Literature of Pharmacy Practice from the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Foundation. He also is a professor of pharmacy practice and science at the UA College of Pharmacy.
