"Places In Between" by Andrea Jensen

In "Places In Between," Andrea Jensen explores the psychological spaces she perceives American society utilizes to escape from our material world. The juxtaposition of current economic hardship and our consumer culture pull us to desire what once was and what will be. Jensen’s work questions why we need to resolve our desires and how those desires bypass the present state our world is in.

Her paintings employ a muted color palette to express nostalgia in union with more powerfully saturated hues to convey hopeful idealism for the future. The abstracted forms in the work align with objects from nature and reference American culture in a state of suspension where life is neither here nor there, but placed intuitively in between.
