Lute Olson Retirement Celebration

Lute Olson

Lute Olson

The University of Arizona athletics department will host a public recognition ceremony celebrating the career of men's basketball coach Lute Olson.

His continued support of the community through his involvement in many non-profits, the prestige he has brought to the UA and Tucson community, and his impact on hundreds of basketball letterwinners are just a few of the many reasons to attend.

The month of August was selected for the celebration to allow his former players the opportunity to participate and share in the celebration of Olson's accomplishments.

Help us thank Olson and celebrate his hall of fame career.  Among other things, the day's event will include tributes from former players, appearances by many current NBA players and a highlight video.

The event is free and open to the public, with free parking available in the Cherry Garage and surrounding surface lots.

Olson retired on Oct. 23, 2008 and finished his career at Arizona with a 589-187 record, 11 Pac-10 titles, 23 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, four Final Fours and a national championship in 1997.
