"I-10 Trombone Conspiracy" - Faculty Artist Series Trombone Recital Featuring Moises Paiewonsky

The University of Arizona School of Music presents “I-10 Trombone Conspiracy,” a Faculty Artist Series trombone recital featuring Moisés Paiewonsky, UA professor of trombone, with UA alumnus Mike Wilkinson, an Arizona State University faculty associate. They will perform works written and/or arranged by Michael Davis, J.J. Johnson, Carl Fontana, Joe Henderson, John Lewis and more. Other faculty and guest artists on this exciting program include Jeff Haskell, piano; Jack Wood, bass; and Fred Hayes, drums.

“This concert will serve not only as a vehicle for collaboration and exchange between UA and ASU faculty members, but will also provide an opportunity for reflection upon the history of jazz trombone (especially as it pertains to famous duos). We will perform tunes that will reminisce upon and pay homage to some timeless trombone pairs such as J.J. Johnson/Kai Winding and Frank Rosolino/Carl Fontana. The program will also highlight works written and/or performed by more contemporary trombone duos such as John Allred/Wycliffe Gordon, Jim Pugh/ Eijiro Nakagawa, and Michael Davis/Bill Reichenbach,” Paiewonsky says.
