This free film festival coordinated by the Progressive Librarians Guild is being held in conjunction with Banned Books Week, an annual event promoted by the American Library Association that celebrates the freedom to read. Anchoring the fest will be "Quills," a 2000 feature film starring Geoffrey Rush, Kate Winslet and Joaquin Phoenix, and depicting the battle of wills fought between the Marquis de Sade and the French authorities determined to censor his writings. The screening will also include brief tributes to banned books and the silent 1910 version of "The Wizard of Oz."
