Douglas Towne, a freelance journalist, will give a talk titled "Maybe Christmas Wasn't Supposed to Last All Year: The Rise and Fall of Santa Claus, Arizona" as part of the fall 2009 Saturday Speaker Series, "History in the Headlines."
Join us for continental breakfast, followed by presentations that uncover Arizona's unusual tales.
Santa Claus, located north of Kingman, was promoted as the most fascinating roadside attraction ever to grace Arizona. Towne shares the story of this kitschy Christmas town and its charismatic founder, Ninon Talbot.
