Help Pick Top 25 UA Successes for 125th Birthday Celebration

Old Main was the University of Arizona's first building.
Members of the campus community are invited to submit their ideas online.
The University of Arizona is preparing to celebrate its 125th birthday, and External Relations wants your help identifying the UA's top 25 accomplishments in the past 25 years.
Employees and students are invited to submit suggestions online by the end of the month. The campus community will then be asked to vote on the top 25 UA accomplishments that have happened since the University celebrated its centennial in 1985.
Submitters are asked to answer three questions:
- What was one of the best things that happened at the UA from 1985-2010?
- Why was this significant?
- How did it improve the University or make life better for Arizonans?
The winning accomplishments will be used to promote the UA's success in its 125th year, which will be celebrated throughout 2010 with various events and activities as part of the "Silver and Sage Celebration." Silver and sage were the UA's original school colors.
Highlighting specific accomplishments, achievements and events over the past 25 years will help tell the campus community and general public the story of how the UA's present is connected with its past, said Kate Jensen, UA assistant vice president for marketing. The top 25 accomplishments will be used in University marketing materials.
"We want to share information with the community about the seeds planted here years ago and how they're paying off," Jensen said.
Not everything that makes the top 25 needs to be international news, Jensen said. For example, there may be events that changed the course of a college or department or significantly impacted student life in ways that never made headlines.
The campus community will be invited to vote on the top 25 accomplishments online after the holiday break. They will not be ranked in any particular order, Jensen said.
