"Management" Exhibit

"Management" is a modulation of the desert landscape that renders the physical effects of watershed management in the Southwest. The work serves to document the history and state of the area by directly referencing the contrast before and after dam building in the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Hetch Hetchy Valley areas. By reducing mountains, valleys and canyons to calculated units, the artist, Kate McHugh, renders the physical effects of watershed management and its importance in the desert community. In an area with scarce resources, management techniques often significantly alter the sensitive landscape.
