University of Arizona Italian studies professor Fabian Alfie – specialist in 13th century Italian literature – will discuss the perception of evil in Dante's time, and pose questions about how modern day evils reflect or vary from the sins represented in the "Inferno." He will refer to modern updates of this classic work, including the recently released "Dante's Inferno" video game.
This lecture is the first offering in a week-long series of talks and cultural events offered by the College of Humanities during its second annual "Humanities Week." A complete listing of the March 24-31 events, held at venues on campus and in downtown Tucson, is available online.
