The campus community is invited to attend the University of Arizona Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Study (Campus Plan) public input open house. The open house is designed to gather input on biking and walking conditions on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
At the open house, Campus Plan administrators will discuss background information and the anticipated outcome of the study, provide maps showcasing collision points on the UA campus and surrounding areas, and identify locations needing improvements. The entire campus is encouraged to attend the open house and provide comments for the plan. Attendees will also be able to identify locations of concern for bicyclists and pedestrians and brainstorm solutions. The public will also be able to review and comment on information gathered for the study including the results of an online survey which generated more than 1,100 responses, bicycle and pedestrian count information, data concerning parking and bicycle theft at the University and information about potentially unsafe locations.
More information about the open house and walk and bike audits can be found here. By gaining public input, those involved with the study hope to improve bicycling and walking conditions and to further encourage members of the Tucson community to walk or bike in and around the University.
Pima Association of Governments has also launched an interactive website for the Campus Plan, giving the Tucson community further opportunities to actively participate in the development of the study. The site may be found at: http://www.PAGregion.com.
