
University of Arizona women’s golfer Mary Jacobs finds herself in the top 10 after the first round of play Tuesday at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand.
Jacobs, a senior-to-be from Godfrey, Ill., shot a four-over-par 76 and stands in a six-woman tie for seventh place. Her opening round was the best among the three-woman United States team and included one birdie and 14 pars.
Jacobs and her U.S. teammates will tee off at 7:10 a.m. UTC for tomorrow’s second round (14 hours ahead of PDT). The 72-hole competition continues through Friday. It is being held at the Water Mill Golf & Gardens Course, a par-72 layout.
