Center for Latin American Studies Charlas: Guillermo Monteforte

Filmmaker Guillermo Monteforte will give a talk on "Mapping Mexican Media: Indigenous and Community Video and Radio."

Monteforte will talk about his group Ojo de Agua Comunicación. Based in Oaxaca City, Mexico, the media organization has for a decade offered training and production assistance to indigenous community members and civil organizations. In turn, these tools help strengthen them in cultural, political and social spheres. Ojo de Agua's work has brought international prominence to indigenous video-making in Mexico, particularly the state of Oaxaca.
