Innovation Day Exhibitor Deadline Approaching

UA departments and programs are invited to participate as exhibitors at the Innovation Showcase.

The University of Arizona will host its sixth annual Innovation Day later this month, celebrating the UA's success in technology development and innovation by highlighting the research achievements of students, staff and faculty.

Innovation Day will be held March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the UA Student Union Memorial Center.

This year's event, titled "UA at the Leading Edge," will showcase prominent University researchers who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of technology and innovation, including:

  • Jennifer Barton – chair of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Interdisciplinary Program, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, associate professor of optical sciences.
  • Charles Falco – professor of optical sciences and chair of condensed matter physics.
  • Eugene W. Gerner – professor of cell biology and anatomy, professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics, director of the gastrointestinal cancer program at the Arizona Cancer Center.
  • Emmanuel Katsanis – head of the division of pediatric hematology/oncology, Louise Thomas Endowed Chair in pediatric cancer research, professor of pediatrics and pathology.
  • Jonathan Overpeck – co-director of the Institute for Environment and Society, professor of geosciences, professor of atmospheric sciences.

UA departments and programs are invited to participate in this event as exhibitors at the Innovation Showcase.

The Innovation Showcase will highlight University technology and its benefits to Tucson and Southern Arizona through the creation of new products and jobs. A panel of businesspeople and angel investors select student teams and startup companies from the Innovation Showcase to present their ventures to them.

Anyone interested in signing up as an exhibitor should contact Anita Bell at 382-3260 by March 12 to secure a booth. Space is limited and it is free of charge.

Innovation Day is organized and hosted by the UA Office of Economic Development and the Arizona Center for Innovation.

The event is sponsored by The Arizona Technology Council, the Eller College of Management–McGuire Entrepreneur Program, Hayes Soloway PC, Raytheon Missile Systems, Snell & Wilmer LLP, the Southern Arizona Tech Council, Spectrum Printing, Tucson Electric Power and the UA Office of Technology Transfer.
