Hoffman E-commerce Lab Holds Grand Opening

The University of Arizona's Eller College of Business and Public Administration and the department of management information systems held its grand opening and open house for the new Mark and Susan Hoffman E-Commerce Lab on Friday, Oct. 20 at McClelland Hall, Room 218.

The lab features new state-of-the-art resources for education and advanced research on e-commerce systems.

The MIS department is interested in reaching prospective students who are considering studying e-commerce and community members interested in e-commerce research and education.

During the open house, the MIS faculty and students discussed the opportunities related to e-commerce that are available in our undergraduate and graduate MIS degree programs.

The capabilities of the Mark & Susan Hoffman E-Commerce Lab include:

Twenty workstations equipped with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional software in a 24-hour, open-access area for independent work.
A state-of-the-art classroom for 20 students with 10 student workstations and an advanced audio-visual and multi-media presentation system.
An enterprise-class Unix server based on HP/UX operating system.
Two departmental-class Windows 2000 Servers.
Two workgroup-class laser printers for high-speed and color printing.
An extensive library of applications software and software development tools from such industry-leading companies as CommerceOne, SoftQuad Software, Oracle, SAP, IFS, JDEdwards, Microsoft, and Hewlett-Packard.
A wireless computing environment using HP's eSpeak Technology.
