  • Cats Open Final Homestand vs. USC on Thursday

    Arizona men's basketball (19-9, 10-5 Pac-12) will close out the home portion of the regular-season schedule with a pair of games beginning Feb. 23 vs. USC (6-21, 1-13 Pac-12) at 6:30 p.m. MST on FOX Sports Arizona. The UA will host UCLA on Feb. 25, with tip-off scheduled for Noon MST.

  • Niya Butts Radio Show Broadcast Monday Nights

    Through Feb. 27, the Niya Butts Radio Show will air with the women's basketball head coach slated to talk about the Wildcats, the Pac-12 and national women's basketball. 

  • Rich Rodriguez Signs 23 Football Recruits

    The class, entirely of incoming freshmen, includes players from Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Hawaii. "We addressed our needs with this group, and it's a solid class," coach Rich Rodriguez said. "We signed guys who want to be part of this program."

  • ESPN's College GameDay to Visit UA Saturday

    The UA's McKale Memorial Center will host ESPN's College GameDay covered by State Farm on Jan. 28 when Arizona plays Washington at 5 p.m. MST. Fans are asked to wear white to the game. GameDay festivities are open to the public; arena doors are scheduled to open at 6 a.m.

  • Arizona, Washington State to Battle Thursday

    Arizona men's basketball (13-7, 4-3 Pac-12) will open a two-game homestand against the Washington schools by hosting Washington State (11-8, 3-4 Pac-12) on Jan. 26 at McKale Memorial Center. The game starts at 8:30 p.m. MST and will be shown on FOX Sports Net.

  • Arizona Men's Basketball to Host Oregon State

    Arizona (11-5, 2-1 Pac-12) will return to the comfortable confines of McKale Memorial Center on Jan. 12 to host Oregon State (11-5, 1-3 Pac-12). The UA will look to build a bit of momentum, as four of the next six games are at home.

  • Bernard Lagat Sets 5K Record at Millrose Games
    Sports Illustrated | UA student-athlete Lawi Lalang, the 2011 NCAA Cross Country individual champion, finished second in the 5,000-meter run at the Millrose Games in New York. Lalang, who finished just behind record-breaker Bernard Lagat – also a UA volunteer coach – shattered the American collegiate record by more than 10 seconds.
  • Arizona Softball Wins Season Opener
    KVOA-TV | The Arizona softball season is off to a good start. The team took an 8-1 win over McNeese State on Feb. 9 to open the Kajikawa Classic. Next up: The team will take on Georgia Tech this afternoon and Nebraska tonight.
  • Former Tucsonan Shows UA Spirit in 'The Amazing Race'
    Arizona Daily Star | UA alumnus Art Velez, who now lives in California, will be one of the contestants on the CBS Emmy-winning competition show, "The Amazing Race," when its new season begins Feb. 19.

    UANews | Former Arizona tight end Rob Gronkowski will take his game to the top on Feb. 5 when he'll appear with his New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. He will be the 26th Wildcat to play in the Super Bowl following the most recent, running back Mike Bell of the 2010 New Orleans Saints.
  • Love of Tennis Aids UA Newcomers
    UANews | Sumeet Shinde and Sebastian Ionescu are both freshman newcomers to this year's UA men's tennis team. With Shinde being a native of Pune, India and Ionescu being from Braila, Romania, tennis is one of the few things the two have been able to relate to.

    UANews | The UA baseball team has earned a No. 5 national ranking in Baseball America's preseason poll released on Jan. 24. The Wildcats are the second-highest ranked Pac-12 team, following No. 2 Stanford.

    UANews | The Arizona softball team recently spent two days facing the mental and physical trials of military training at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Said Head Coach Mike Candrea: "There were some leadership exercises, some communication exercises and a lot of teamwork."
  • Cats, Ducks Play Saturday on CBS-TV
    UANews | Arizona (12-5, 3-1 Pac-12) will host Oregon (12-5, 3-2 Pac-12) on Jan. 14 in McKale Memorial Center in a nationally televised game on CBS-TV. The game will be the 69th meeting of the two schools with Arizona holding a 45-23 advantage in the series, which dates back to 1979.
  • Venture Meshes Social Media, Fantasy Football
    Phoenix Business Journal | A UA MBA graduate is hoping to mesh social media with fantasy football and baseball. Evan Singer is a co-founder of Pigskin Boss, which launched in November. “Pigskin Boss offers the first true community-style fantasy football website,” Singer said.
  • Rich Rodriguez Completes Coaching Staff
    UANews | Arizona's Rich Rodriguez has completed his football coaching staff with the appointment of Jeff Casteel to defensive coordinator, David Lockwood as a defensive backs coach, Bill Kirelawich as defensive line coach and Spencer Leftwich as tight ends coach.

    NBA.com | Rookie Derrick Williams enjoyed a meteoric rise to the NBA over two quick collegiate seasons. Williams, the 2010 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, was recruited as the country's 72nd overall athlete in his high school class. By the time his UA career was over, he was the No. 2 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in June's NBA Draft.
  • Ten Former Wildcats on NBA Rosters
    UANews | Ten former UA men's basketball players were on active National Basketball Association rosters as the league opened the 2011-12 season last week. Among them were Mike Bibby, Richard Jefferson and Derrick Williams.
  • Gymnastics Named No. 6 in the Conference
    UANews | Arizona women's gymnastics has earned the No. 6 ranking in the Pac-12 Conference pre-season coaches' poll. The Arizona team currently is ranked No. 19 in the nation.
  • Right Time, Right Place
    UANews | As a UA freshman, basketball player Kyle Fogg was a starter in 27 of 35 Arizona games. Fogg just scored his 1,000th career point at Arizona, becoming the 46th player in Arizona history to do so.

    Arizona Daily Star | A newly launched database contains information about UA basketball coaches, opponents and also results for each game the Wildcats have played since 1904. The database is managed by the Arizona Daily Star.
  • University Spirit Competition Under Way
    UANews | Wildcat fans are encouraged to vote for the UA as often as they can by Jan. 1 in the inaugural School Spirit Competition by EA Sports to beat out 16 other universities selected for the national challenge.  
  • UA Athletics Personality Pursues Marketing Degree, Career
    UANews | Stephanie Csongor, a marketing student in the UA Eller College of Management, is the in-game host for Arizona football. This year, thousands of fans saw her on the Arizona Stadium video screen during games. She also is president of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity.
