UANews | Organizers are asking football fans and community members to donate non-perishable food items to help local food banks. Drop-off spots were located around Arizona Stadium and in select Main Gate restaurants and stores on Thursday, Dec. 2.

UANews | The UA will celebrate its graduating students during the Winter Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 18, in McKale Memorial Center. A total of 2,708 undergraduate student degrees will be conferred, plus 328 master's degrees and 610 doctoral degrees.

UANews | The awards recognize students who have demonstrated integrity, overcome enormous challenges to achieve a college education and made a contribution to self, community and family.

UANews | Community leaders Phil Gordon, Naomi Karp, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong and Martin C. Bowen will receive honorary degrees from the UA during the Winter Commencement Ceremony.

UANews | Christopher J. Vlahos has been named associate vice president for alumni relations at Case Western Reserve University. Vlahos has been serving as president and executive director of the UA Alumni Association.

UANews | Combining genetically engineered cotton plants that kill caterpillars and the controlled release of sterile moths from airplanes has produced a new and highly successful approach to dramatically reducing pesticide use and crop damage, a UA-led study has shown.

UANews | Milton M. Castillo, currently the chief financial officer and assistant general manager at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, will be the UA's next senior vice president for business affairs and chief financial officer.
