  • New Fund to Enable More UA Field Trips for Schools
    UANews | The program directly links teachers in search of funding with donors who will benefit from the state education tax credit. The fund evolved from the UA Science Connection website, a one-stop location for K-12 teachers who want to know about opportunities in the College of Science and other programs on campus.
  • Five UA Students Will Take Part in New York Times Institute
    UANews | Five UA journalism students are among nearly two dozen selected from around the country to attend the New York Times Student Journalism Institute in Florida. Veteran reporters and editors will supervise the students through a range of activities during the session.

  • UA Establishes Presence in Downtown Tucson
    UANews | University of Arizona Downtown will utilize the historic Roy Place Building for a new center dedicated to research, outreach and teaching. A dedication ceremony took place in December.

    UANews | Students in the UA Honors College presented dozens of ideas on ways to boost campus sustainability the same day the University's Green Fund opened a campus-wide call for funding requests regarding sustainability-related efforts.
  • Architecture Students Develop Master Plan and Design in Palestine
    UANews | UA students in the Tejido Group spent a month in Palestine as part of an apprenticeship-style learning project to develop an urban planning and design strategy to help revitalize a historical community.
  • UA BioMed Students Earn National Recognition
    UANews | Minority students in the UA MARC program, a federally funded NIH initiative to advance careers in the biomedical field, were recognized recently for their summer research efforts. The students now are pursuing graduate studies involving research.
  • 'Exchanged' Exhibition Showcases Student Photographs
    UANews | UA students taking an advanced photography class are displaying works they produced throughout the semester. The photos, exploring memories and items of remembrance, are on display through Friday, Dec. 17. 
  • Special Collections to Screen U.S.-Mexico Border Documentary
    UANews | While taking a course on borderlands issues in the School of Journalism, Curtis Prendergast, Austin Counts and Kristen Boele produced a documentary film that will be screened at the UA on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
  • Building Community Through Recycled Art
    UANews | UA students used recycled bicycle parts to design and make jewelry, artwork and other creations to support BICAS, a Tucson-based nonprofit organization committed to recycling bicycles, promoting arts and education and supporting bicycle culture.
  • UA Students Head Up Downtown Installation Exhibition
    UANews | A group of students in James Cook's installation course this semester created original works that will be on exhibition at a local gallery during a show that opened Saturday, Dec. 4. Several class members used the medium to investigate humanitarian issues and emotions.
