  • Yuma Residents to Get More UA Access
    UANews | The UA and Arizona Western College have signed another agreement to ensure that students have increased access to higher education. The 16 programs offered are in disciplines that include crop production, computer science, mathematics for secondary education and nutritional sciences.
  • New UA Residence Halls Earn Highest Sustainability Award
    UANews | Árbol de la Vida and Likins halls are the first residency projects in the state to receive platinum LEED certification, joining the UA Campus Recreation Center. The halls provided 1,088 new beds and sustainable new communities for students in the 2011-12 academic year.
  • Maricopa County Community College District, UA Expand Transfer Program
    UANews | The goals of the program are to increase the number of MCCCD students transferring to the UA, expand opportunities for direct transfer to specified UA degree programs and provide additional opportunities for MCCCD transfer students to obtain a UA bachelor's degree.
  • UA Awareness Events Focus on Eating Disorders
    UANews | The UA is participating in National Eating Disorders Awareness Week Feb. 28-29. Body image surveys will be offered, and a documentary will be screened, including a discussion with nationally known activist and eating disorder therapist Carolyn Costin.
  • UA Expands Offerings for Central Arizona Students
    UANews | Students now have access to additional degree options because of a new agreement signed by the UA and Central Arizona College administrators. Among the program offerings are agribusiness economics and management, nutritional sciences, anthropology, communication and English.
  • UA: No Tuition Increase for In-State Continuing Undergrads
    UANews | The UA is recommending no base tuition increase in 2012-13 for all continuing undergraduate resident students – despite years of declining state support and steep budget cuts. No new mandatory fees are being recommended.

    UANews | With its bathroom-themed contraption, the UA's Rube Goldberg Club aspires to win a regional competition Feb. 25 as part of Engineering Week. Rube Goldberg competitions ask student teams to design elaborate devices that perform simple tasks.

    UANews | The UA will host its ninth-annual Innovation Day at the UA on March 6. The event will celebrate the UA's success in technology development and innovation by highlighting the research achievements of students and faculty and staff members.

  • NSE Program Assisting Students’ Personal Growth, Development
    UANews | Opportunities, experiences and exploration. The National Student Exchange program allows students to grow, personally and academically, while studying at another institution in the U.S. or Canada. Students are able to study at their selected institution for up to one calendar year.

    UANews | UA anthropology professor Thomas E. Sheridan will present his lecture, "The Sleeping Giant vs. the Politics of Fear," at Special Collections on Feb. 14, the day of Arizona's centennial year.

    UANews | Through Feb. 27, the Niya Butts Radio Show will air with the women's basketball head coach slated to talk about the Wildcats, the Pac-12 and national women's basketball. 
  • UA Black History Month Events Begin
    UANews | Black History Month events at the UA have begun, including lectures, film screenings, a field trip and block party. Several UA departments, centers and student organizations are hosting more than one dozen events.  
  • Travel, Research Award Honors Memory of Michael E. Bonine
    UANews | The Michael Bonine Memorial Travel and Research Award will fund summer travel and research for undergraduates in any major and graduate students in Middle Eastern and North African studies.
  • UA Expands Offerings Into Chandler
    UANews | Several UA degree and certificate programs soon will be offered Chandler, expanding educational access and opportunities in Arizona. The UA's College of Education and Eller College of Management each are providing programs, while the School of Information Resources and Library Science is offering a foundational course.
  • UA Astronomer Earns National Education Honors
    UANews | Astronomy Camp, run by UA Steward Observatory's Don McCarthy, has introduced students and others to science for 25 years. The American Astronomical Society has recognized McCarthy and his efforts with its annual education award.
